HANDCRAFTED WINE FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART

Tremolo-label.png
About

Tremolo is a boutique winery founded in 2022 by Devon and Jessica Mullen. It was born out of a passion for artistry that started with music but carries on through winemaking. Devon produces music and has toured as an indie musician known as “Dizzy Dames.” Whether Devon is working on a record or a new vintage of wine, there is the same sense of fulfillment for creating something special that can be shared and enjoyed with others.

Devon had the privilege of being mentored by two master Pinot Noir winemakers, Ben Papapietro and David Low. Jessica was mentored under CEO, Renae Perry, learning the inner workings of the wine business. These experiences lead them to embrace the tradition of making great wine, working with family, and always enjoying music along the way. The name "Tremolo" was chosen to pay homage to the world of music, striving to deliver a symphony of emotions and depth in every sip, much like the intricate nuances of a musical tremolo. Tremolo specializes in crafting exceptional Pinot Noir with a single vineyard, single clone from one of Sonoma County's oldest and most renowned grower, Leras Vineyards.

In 2014, he relocated to Los Angeles from Massachusetts, where he crossed paths with his future wife, Jessica Mullen, the niece of Renae and Bruce Perry, esteemed owners of Papapietro Perry Winery. Over the following years, Devon and Jessica immersed themselves in the harvest seasons at Papapietro Perry Winery. Their shared interest in wine deepened their connection and ultimately led them to move to Healdsburg, California. In 2020, they committed to working full-time at the winery while still enjoying live music and composing music in their garage studio.

The idea to establish their own label, Tremolo, was kindled when the late Bruce Perry gifted Devon a magnum of Pinot Noir from the Perry cellar. This special bottle bore nothing more than a piece of masking tape inscribed with the vintage, 1998, and AVA, Lone River Ranch, yet it held the promise of a remarkable journey ahead. The Band

Devon Mullen, Co-Founder & Winemaker:

Devon’s creativity and passion for life and music started in his hometown, Andover, MA. His refined ear for tonality and rhythm, versatility, and ability to play multiple instruments launched his music career, which included playing multiple shows with his band throughout New England and working at various recording studios. Moving to Los Angeles in 2014, gave Devon the opportunity to work for some of the biggest Music Festivals in the country. When working at Splash House music festival, in 2018, he met Jessica which is where their love story began.

Jessica Mullen, Co-Founder & CEO:

Jessica grew up in Palo Alto, CA, and went across the country to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). After graduating, she moved to New York City and took advantage of all that the Big Apple had to offer. For several years, she worked for major multi-media agencies, gaining experience in marketing, production, and management. In 2016, she returned to her home state of CA and worked in TV Development in Los Angeles. Music was always at the forefront of Jessica’s social life, attending live music, and festivals and constantly discovering new artists. Little did she know meeting Devon at Splash House was going to be the beginning of their life together.

Jessica began working as the Tour Manager for Devon’s band, Dizzy Dames. They traveled across the country with their dog Bailey, living in their van, also known as the Jambulance. When their tour was cut short because of the pandemic they returned to Healdsburg to be with family and work harvest at Papapietro Perry Winery. Realizing they had found their oasis and ideal industry, they put down roots in Healdsburg. After buying a home they started their family, welcoming their son Rhodes in 2022. Jessica's innovation and foresight within the wine industry has created new business opportunities for the growth of the winery. During harvest, Devon worked as a Cellar Hand, broadened his knowledge as a Tasting Room Associate, and refined his palate working under Ben Papapietro and Renae Perry. Jessica and Devon continue to learn a tremendous amount about making extraordinary wine and being a part of an exemplary winery.
